Creative Places Baltinglass is delighted to announce that a mural depicting the once-active railway station in the town will soon adorn the 58 metre long hoarding at Belan Street and Mill Street.
The concept of creating a mural on the hoarding was conceived by B.A.R.T., the Baltinglass Art Group, a group of local artists who have been working for some time on the design and development of this project.
Creative Places Baltinglass and the Wicklow County Arts Office have supported the initiative and provided the funding, project management and health and safety measures.
Creative Places Baltinglass is managed by the Wicklow County Arts Office and is part of the national Creative Places Programme developed and funded by the Arts Council.
Artists involved in the project are: – Sinead Tyner (lead artist), Avril O’Reilly, Dermot Burgess, Eoin O’Malley, Kathy Velandria, Mairead Kelly, Olga Melnykova, OrlaCallaghan, Paula Phelan, Siobhán Madden, Tom Walsh.
Weather-dependent, we expect the mural to be completed by the 13th October, 2023. Watch out for updates and exciting images!
Thank you to everybody involved in, and supporting the project.
Special thanks to Quinn’s of Baltinglass and Craig Doyle for providing the hoarding and painting materials.
