About the event

Community Planting & Street Feast Festival Day

Calling all residents of Rathcoran Housing Estate

Join us on 25th May at 12-3pm

A group of Rathcoran Residents have worked over the past year with Respond and Wicklow County Council’s Creative Places Baltinglass programme to think of ways to deliver new projects and activities for the estate to enhance the neighbourhood.

The participating resident’s aims were to see what work from the Brain Health Village Initiative could be achieved to build a greater sense of community in the estate and to see if there were options to enhance the appearance and gathering spaces for residents. This resident group along with Respond and Wicklow County Council now invite all residents from the Rathcoran Housing Estate to get involved in a community celebration day in the estate taking place on May 25th. As a result of the input of the residents group, Respond and Wicklow County Council are providing a day of community participation and joining in the Street Feast national day of food sharing. Bring along your own food and drinks to consume and share. Neighbouring community groups are also invited to join in.

Meet the Estate’s Artist in Residence Project Artist Suzie Cahn and help her plant the beginnings of a new community garden.

Local artist and resident Avril will be doing face painting, and we will have other activities for children and families to enjoy such as giant outdoor snakes and ladders and Jenga, candle and jewellery making workshops, and music.

ALL FREE.
This event has been coordinated as part of the Creative Places Baltinglass initiative run by Wicklow County Council and supported by the Arts Council. The project has also been funded and supported by Respond as part of the Brain Health Project initiative. With thanks to the Men’s Shed for their support in building the planting structures and the residents of the estate who came on board to design this day for all their neighbours to enjoy!
