About the performers and musicians:

Jim Maher, (Seannachaí) hails from Kilkenny and is one of the finest and most popular entertainers in his class.

Traditional roguery of the sort that makes us long for those bygone days of fun and mirth.......where laughter was heard at every hearth, every ditch and gatepost......Jim takes us back in time.....to the world of storytelling where authenticity is the order of the day.

His stories remind us of what is in us all.......... a roguish sense of humour, a taste for life...........our total "Irishness".

Bernie Hanley is a fabulous traditional accordion player. Originally from county Wicklow she now lives in Dublin. She also plays the spoons and tells many a good entertaining story. Together with Maureen and Michael they really get the audience's feet tapping with their lively tunes. We are delighted to welcome Bernie back to her native county.

Maureen O'Reilly also comes from a family steeped in Irish traditional music. She plays the concertina and is a great promoter of the Solo Step and the Set Dancing tradition.

Michael Tubridy is a well-known musician on the Irish trad music scene. He is a multi-instrumentalist and an accomplished Solo Step Dancer and Set Dancer. Michael's music is steeped in the great tradition of his native county Clare. We are honoured to have him perform at this event.

Michael and Maureen give regular workshops in Solo Step and Set Dancing at traditional music festivals nationwide. They hope to pass on a few tips to the dance enthusiasts at the hospital on Friday 15th March 2024.
