The Hub Collective Expression of Interest

The Hub Collective is a new community group being established to help shape the exhibition programme at The Hub, the creative space in Baltinglass Library. The group will play an active role in imagining how the library can grow as a welcoming and vibrant cultural space for the town.

We are inviting Expressions of Interest from people who are curious about creativity, local stories, and community-led cultural activity. You do not need to be an artist or have previous experience in the arts — we are simply looking for people who are interested in contributing ideas, perspectives, and enthusiasm.

What’s involved

Members of The Hub Collective will:

  • take part in a monthly facilitated meeting where ideas are shared, plans are developed, and decisions are made collaboratively
  • have a supportive space to meet, connect, and collaborate with others interested in the arts
  • be invited to occasional outings and talks, such as visits to galleries and visual art centres, to help build confidence and inspiration

Who we’re looking for

We welcome expressions of interest from people who:

  • have an interest in creativity, visual culture, and community life in Baltinglass
  • are open, collaborative, and interested in working with others
  • can attend monthly meetings
  • believe in the long-term vision of Creative Places Baltinglass and want to help strengthen the visual arts in the town

How to apply

If you would like to be part of The Hub Collective, please complete the Expression of Interest form by: 📅 Friday 16 January

Following the success of the initial three-year programme (2022–2025), which saw an investment of €375,000, the Arts Council has awarded €170,000 to support the next phase of development in Baltinglass.

Creative Places was established in 2019 by the Arts Council to provide sustained arts development in underfunded areas. In Baltinglass, the programme has energised the town as a hub of social creativity, bringing together community groups, schools, families, and individuals of all ages to collaborate with artists. Highlights to date include residencies, artist development, training, and community events such as Cruinniú na nÓg, Culture Night, and the much-loved Sitting Room Sessions. New initiatives like Baltinglass Sings, a community choir of 65 members, The Biddies of Baltinglass women’s group, and the flourishing Tearmann Community Garden have further rooted the programme in the heart of local life.

The next two years will continue to build on this strong foundation, with a focus on community participation, artist collaboration, and long-term sustainability for the arts in Baltinglass. A new Community Creative Activation Fund has also been launched to support projects led by artists, schools, and local groups, ensuring that creativity continues to thrive across the town.

Please see more info on how you can apply to the new Community Creative Activation Fund below.
